POSITION SUMMARY
Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.
To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a Sr- or Staff-Level Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the design, fabrication, assembly, and operations of hypersonic vehicle launch system ground support equipment (GSE). The individual operating in this capacity will contribute to all aspects of manufacturing, to include: designing GSE, generating work instructions for the shop, 3D CAD modeling, designing manufacturing shop aids, subsystems integration, etc.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design GSE, tools, fixtures, and jigs to support metallic structure
- Generate work instructions, drawings, and templates for the shop using 3D CAD software
- Manage vendors to procure manufacturing equipment, tooling, and fixtures
- Design manufacturing shop aids to improve manufacturing efficiency
- Provide technical guidance to manufacturing operations
- Ensure the manufacturing of the vehicle and GSE meets all engineering requirements
- Support the root-cause analysis of manufacturing nonconformances, and the engineering disposition of those nonconformances
- Provide technical guidance to help resolve non-conformances, corrective actions, and rework
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities
- Work with the Manufacturing and Program Management teams to streamline the manufacturing sequence to meet programs goals
- Participate in the planning process by providing schedule inputs to Program Management
- Evaluate risks and risk mitigation plans to determine if the risks are appropriate and risk mitigations are adequate
- Regular and comprehensive communication to the hypersonic vehicle Chief Engineer on a weekly and monthly basis
- Lead a small team of manufacturing engineers
- Travel, as needed, to support the department
- Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments

Required Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of, and/or experience with: design of GSE hardware and assemblies, design of assembly fixtures and jigs, design of drill jigs, GD&T
- Experience designing and producing manufacturing documentation
- 3D CAD modeling experience
- Ability to work on your own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within the business goals
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

- Vendor management experience
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Management experience
Required Computer Skills
- Computer Aided Design tools (Siemens NX & Teamcenter preferred)
- Configuration management systems (JIRA preferred)
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Sr. Level ($104,000-$155,000): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Staff Level ($126,500-$195,500): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10-20 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Special remarks regarding work environment, if applicable
- Position is based in Mojave, CA
- Position requires significant interaction on the shop floor with the Materials and Processes, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams
- Travel expectations are minimal (<5%), for visiting manufacturing vendors

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles.
