Position Summary
Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.
To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a Sr-, Staff-, or Principal-level Simulation Engineer to continue the development of the Roc Carrier Aircraft & Talon Systems integrated Evaluation & Training flight simulator. This position will focus on both the addition of Talon Subsystems into the Integrated Sim as well as continuous improvement of the Legacy Carrier Aircraft flight simulator.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead & execute simulation upgrades to bring Talon sub-systems into the Integrated Flight Simulator
- Lead & execute simulation upgrades to improve Roc Carrier Aircraft flight simulator fidelity, training experience, reliability and others
- Communicate and coordinate with Responsible Engineers and internal Simulator customers
- Perform simulation evaluations relating to handling qualities, functional hazard analysis classification, emergency procedure training, etc.
- Evaluate requirement needs or problem statements and propose solutions
- Evaluate both technical and programmatic risk for potential solutions
- Perform detail design, procure parts, advocate design through review process, document design
- Execute project ranging from procurement, detail technician direction, aircraft configuration control
- Test project as required, lead testing, evaluate data and hold closeout reviews
- Prepare project for flight and brief status at Flight Readiness Reviews and other similar events
- Travel, as needed, to support the department
- Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience developing integrated simulation devices
- Highly experienced in Matlab and Simulink
- Experience with C/C++
- Experience developing & negotiating requirements
- Familiarity with project and issue tracking software, such as JIRA
- Excellent written & verbal communication
- U.S. Person
Preferred
- Experience supervising a team
- Aircraft development experience
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Experience in Network Engineering
- Experience with IADS
- Flight test and/or piloting experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT, Visio)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Sr Level ($104,000-$155,000): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Staff Level ($126,500-$195,400): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10-20 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Principal Level ($154,000-246,300): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 20-25 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

- Position based in Mojave, CA. Consideration for partial remote/partial on-site (hybrid) work.
- Travel estimated to be <5%

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles. Wine aficionados will also find easy access to some of the state’s best vino in Paso Robles, Santa Ynez, and even more locally in Tehachapi and Agua Dulce. Beer fanatics will find some of the best West Coast IPAs at Bravery and Lucky Luke’s in Lancaster. Any food option you crave is covered, and we always recommend the authentic and fresh Mexican food that you won’t find anywhere else in the United States.
